The following Event Registration Terms & Conditions (“Terms & Conditions”) apply to all events as part of Pinay Powerhouse 8: Advoc8 & Ingat ("PP8" or "we" or "our") being hosted by the ("Filipino American Lawyers Association of Washington, DC"). Should you not wish to accept the Terms & Conditions you should not register. If you wish to cancel your registration and receive a refund of your ticket, you must do so by emailing faladc.pp8@gmail.com with your cancellation at least 24 hours before the day the event takes place.
Submission of a registration is regarded as affirmation of your acceptance of the Terms & Conditions.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: PLEASE REVIEW THESE TERMS CAREFULLY AS THEY INCLUDE A LIABILITY WAIVER.
Use of Your Information
By submitting your email address during the event registration process, you agree that PP8 and its event partners may send you event-related information. A valid email address is required for all registrations.
PP8 uses the personal data you provide in this registration for administering your participation in this event. This may include information about the event’s content, event logistics, payment, updates, and additional information related to the event.
PP8 may disclose your personal data to third party service providers engaged by PP8 to assist in the conduct of the event. Information you provide when registering for or participating in an event managed or co-sponsored by parties other than or in addition to PP8 may be shared with those parties, and the treatment of such information is further subject to the privacy policies of those parties. Except as described herein, PP8 will not disclose your personal data to any other third party without your consent except where required to do so by law.
Nondiscrimination Policy
PP8 prohibits discrimination, harassment, and bullying against any person for any reason—including but not limited to reasons because of age, ancestry, color, disability or handicap, national origin, race, religion, gender, sexual or affectional orientation, gender identity, appearance, matriculation, political affiliation, marital status, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
PP8 Conduct & Safety
PP8 is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment to all attendees and participants, including staff, volunteers, and vendors, at all PP8 events. PP8 has no tolerance for discrimination, harassment, or bullying in any form at PP8 events. Participants are expected to adhere to these principles and respect the rights of others.
What To Do If You Witness or are Subjected to Unacceptable Behavior: Individuals should report any behavior inconsistent with these principles to onsite PP8 planning committee members and/or event staff. Event staff will be happy to help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.
LIABILITY WAIVER AND RELEASE
In consideration of being allowed to register for, and participate in the event, you hereby warrant and represent that you are age 18 or above, or the age of majority in your state of residence, and freely waive, release from liability, assume all risks, and covenant not to sue PP8 or its members, employees, board members, agents, or volunteers for any expense, loss, damage, personal injury, including loss of life, illness, including but not limited to COVID-19, disability, property damage, or property theft or actions of any kind that you may hereafter suffer or sustain before, during, or after the event, unless said expense, loss, damage, personal injury, including loss of life, illness, disability, property damage or property theft or actions of any kind is caused by the sole, gross negligence of PP8. This Liability Waiver and Release is specifically binding upon your heirs and assigns and is knowingly given.
Venue Rules
You must comply with the rules and regulations governing any event venue that is part of PP8. If you bring any property to a venue, you do so at your own risk. We are not responsible for any loss and/or damage to such property. If you are using car parking facilities at any venue, you do so entirely at your own risk. We do not accept any responsibility for any loss and/or damage resulting from your use of such car parking facilities. We reserve the right to refuse admission to any person whom we consider in our absolute discretion to be unsuitable for admission to the conference or to remove such person after the start of the conference.
Speaker Policy
If you agree to speak at a PP8, we may share your contact and biographical information with event attendees. We will also request a headshot photograph. In other cases, we post on our event website information such as your name, employer, physical work address, work email address, as well as a link to your company website and/or professional LinkedIn page available to the public. This is so that visitors to the event website, including event attendees and speakers, can contact you with questions and requests for more information, and to provide feedback if needed. Additionally, speakers may be asked to complete a release agreement or copyright form prior to their presentation.
Photography & Media
PP8 has hired professional service providers (photo/video/streaming/audio) to document and display the event experience. PP8 may also use social media to: (i) post real-time photos and videos to its social media feeds; and (ii) display select submissions from those feeds on monitors throughout the event venue.
Attendees and sponsors are encouraged to capture their event experiences and post their own social content from the event (text, photos, audio, video, streaming), provided it does not infringe upon the rights of any attendee, sponsor, third party, or PP8. Such infringement would include, but is not limited to, defamation or infringement of intellectual property rights. In the event an attendee requires a release or permission to protect the rights of a third party, obtaining such a release or permission shall be the sole responsibility of the attendee.
By attending the event, you acknowledge and agree as follows: (a) PP8 may edit and use footage it captures at the event for marketing and promotional activities and for any other lawful purpose in the ordinary course of its business; and (b) due to the prevalence of mobile recording devices in today’s world, PP8 disclaims all liability for the capture of your image in any multimedia format by other attendees at the event.
Conference Changes
We reserve the right to make any changes to the conference at any time without prior written notice. For example, such changes may include changing the program (including, but not limited to, the speakers), date, time and/or the venue. Additionally, any discounts or offers advertised for a particular event (such as “Early Bird” offers) may be time limited and/or subject to availability and will be subject to additional terms and conditions.
Right to Cancel
PP8 reserves the right to cancel the conference at our sole discretion for any reason and at any time. In the event of such a cancellation, we will attempt to refund any registration fees paid, and we will use reasonable endeavours to notify you of such cancellation.
Force Majeure
PP8 shall not be liable to you for any delay or failure to perform hereunder due to a natural disaster, actions or decrees of governmental bodies, communicable disease, epidemic, any curtailment to or cancellation of public transport, strikes or walkouts, acts or threats of terrorism or civil unrest, communications line failure or any other reason which (a) hinders, delays or prevents us in performing any of our obligations, (b) is beyond our control of without our fault or negligence, and (c) by the exercise of reasonable diligence we are unable to prevent or provide against (“Force Majeure Event”).
In such circumstances, we shall be entitled to a reasonable extension of the time for performing such obligations. If the period of delay or non-performance continues for thirty (30) or more calendar days, we may terminate these Terms & Conditions by giving you five (5) business days written notice. In such circumstances we reserve the right not to refund your registration fees and advise that insurance should be taken to cover such eventualities. A Force Majeure Event shall not entitle you to delay payment of any sums under these Terms & Conditions.
You are responsible for making your own way to the venue for the event, and you shall remain liable for all payments under this agreement irrespective of any failure of transport or other reason why you are unable to attend the conference.
General Terms
PP8 reserves the right to change, amend, add or remove any of the above Terms & Conditions in its sole discretion and without prior notice. If one or more of the conditions outlined in these Terms & Conditions should become invalid, the remaining conditions will continue to be valid and apply. These Terms & Conditions apply to all event participants (attendees, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors).
The views expressed by any event attendee, speaker, exhibitor, or sponsor are not necessarily those of PP8 or FALA DC.
All attendees, speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors are solely responsible for the content of all individual or corporation presentations, marketing collateral, and/or advertising.
We may revise our Terms & Conditions from time to time, and will post the most current version on our website as soon as possible after the revised Terms & Conditions become effective. For this reason, please check our website regularly.
If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is held by a court to be unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed to be amended to the extent necessary, and in a manner consistent with the intentions of the parties, to make it and these Terms & Conditions fully enforceable. The unenforceability of any provision of these Terms & Conditions shall not affect the remaining provisions.
A delay in exercising, or failure to exercise, any right or remedy in connection with these Terms & Conditions shall not operate as a waiver of that right or remedy. The waiver of a right to require compliance with any provision of these Terms & Conditions in any instance shall not operate as a waiver of any further exercise or enforcement of that right. The waiver of any breach shall not operate as a waiver of any subsequent breach. No waiver in connection with these Terms & Conditions shall, in any event, be effective unless it is in writing and refers expressly to this clause.
